Caring For Your Car This Spring
We all love that spring has finally arrived and the weather will (hopefully) start to warm up, however there are many safety checks still to consider when driving our vehicles. At QCS, we tend to find that many parts have taken a toll from the colder weather, so here are a couple of top tips to prepare your vehicle for spring.Check your tyresPrepare your wheels by checking the tyre pressure and alignment. Not only can the colder weather affect the tyre pressure, but potholes caused by freezing conditions are the enemy to your suspension, knocking your alignment out of place and causing your steering to pull to one side.Check your wiper bladesWiper blades fight their way through winter to clear up dirt and salt from your screen. Spring is usually the perfect time to replace them to enjoy clearer vision and to protect your windscreen from scratches and wear.Taking the time to give your car a full safety check will lower the risk of having an accident. Not only are there safety checks which we can carry out ourselves, there are other important technical checks which need a professional, but no need to worry because QCS can help! We offer three types of car servicing for different requirements and budgets, including a value service, full service and a performance service.Call or email to book a service with QCS: 01908 657 970 or email@example.com Tight for cash? We also offer an Easy Pay service where you can spread the cost over 3 months, interest free.
Protect Your Wiper Blades This Winter
With the temperature first thing in the morning’s still fairly frosty, taking care not to damage your wiper blades when clearing your windscreen of ice (and potentially snow), is important for your safety on the road. We want to let you know about wiper blade safety in winter. How do we protect or wiper blades in cold weather?Drivers are urged to take two minutes of their time to manually clear the windscreen from snow or ice instead of using the quick but costly way – making your wipers do all the work! Using your wipers to clear ice or snow off the windscreen can run a risk of expensive repair work, potentially causing the linkage to snap or the wiper motor to burn out, as well as eventually wearing out the blades which can damage the glass. It’s not only the wiper blades we have to think about Not only is it important to avoid damage to your wipers, but making sure your vehicle is completely clear of snow and ice before starting your journey will reduce the risk of causing an accident. At top speeds, snow can fall from the roof onto your windscreen, hitting the vehicle behind you resulting in lack of visibility, or worse, potentially causing an accident.Allow more time to check your vehicle before travelling this winter. Worried about car safety this winter? QCS offer a FREE winter safety check to everyone. This includes checking the condition of your wiper blades too!Call or email to book your free winter safety check: 01908 657 970 or firstname.lastname@example.org

What is an MOT Test?An MOT is a UK term for 'Ministry of Transport test car inspection'. It is a simple visual safety check of a car and is not a replacement for a car service. The MOT test is primarily a safety test designed to protect you, your family and others on the road. Our technicians at QCS will test the road-worthiness of your car thoroughly during an MOT and advise if anything needs further attention. Why do I need an MOT?If your car is more than three years old an MOT is required by law. If you find it hard to remember when you MOT test is due, as lots of us do, you can take advantage of numerous free online reminder tools - including one from the DVLA and ourselves (visit our MOT page for more details). The MOT certificate received when your car passes the test proves that your car meets the minimum legal requirements for road safety and environmental standards. At QCS we offer VOSA approved MOT testing for just £25. We check tyre pressure, all lights, A/C temperature and top up your coolant, screen wash and power steering fluid - all for one great price! To make a booking, please click here.
Why is tyre tread so important?
With today's super busy lives, time can feel like it's on fast forward. We often find that months have flown by and we've not given our car maintenance much thought. While it might seem like just another thing to add to an already long 'to do' list, we can not express enough how important it is to check your tyre tread. This check is possibly one of the most important at-home checks you can do on your car. As well as being a legal obligation, the correct tyre tread is also vital for the safety of you and your passengers. Worn tyres can increase stopping distances, especially in wet weather - increasing the chances of aquaplaning and losing control of your vehicle.Tire tread depth must be above 1.6mm in the middle three quarters of the tyre for them to be legal. Stay safe (and avoid a hefty fine and points on your license) with this quick one minute check: The 20p test:Take a 20p piece and insert it into the tread of each tyre. If the outer band of the coin is hidden, your tyres are safe.We recommend you carry out this test regularly. If you're worried about forgetting - why not setting up a reoccurring reminder on your phone? Many of our customers find this the easiest way the make sure this vital check doesn't drop off their radar!QCS offer a wide variety of quality tyres, for more information click here.

Air Conditioning: Why you shouldn’t settle for sizzling
We all love our air conditioners in the summer, they save us from melting away during rush hour traffic and make car journeys in the heat bearable. At QCS, we offer full air conditioning services to keep you cool all year round - but how much do you actually know about your AC?Did you know?...you should use your air con at least once a fortnight, all year roundRunning your AC for a least 5 minutes every few weeks is vital to maintain the condition of your air conditioner. The coolant in the AC contains lubricant which keeps all the rubber seals and pipework in tip top condition.Did you know…not servicing your air con can make you ill!Scary but true! When air conditioning is not in use, the build-up of condensation acts as a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi, which results in an unpleasant smell when you switch on the air conditioning in your car. Serving your AC (we recommend once every 2 years) will keep your air con unit clean, avoiding the possibility of inhaling nasty bacteria.Did you know…air conditioning is not part of your MOT or ServiceSince having the AC in your car is not critical for the safety of your vehicle, the MOT or Service is not included. A separate air con service is recommended and can be booked at QCS at any time, or alongside a service – just ask our team.If you need your air conditioning servicing, we offer a complete inspection, re-gas service and decontamination treatment.
