Protect Your Wiper Blades This Winter
With the temperature first thing in the morning’s still fairly frosty, taking care not to damage your wiper blades when clearing your windscreen of ice (and potentially snow), is important for your safety on the road. We want to let you know about wiper blade safety in winter.
How do we protect or wiper blades in cold weather?
Drivers are urged to take two minutes of their time to manually clear the windscreen from snow or ice instead of using the quick but costly way – making your wipers do all the work! Using your wipers to clear ice or snow off the windscreen can run a risk of expensive repair work, potentially causing the linkage to snap or the wiper motor to burn out, as well as eventually wearing out the blades which can damage the glass.
It’s not only the wiper blades we have to think about
Not only is it important to avoid damage to your wipers, but making sure your vehicle is completely clear of snow and ice before starting your journey will reduce the risk of causing an accident. At top speeds, snow can fall from the roof onto your windscreen, hitting the vehicle behind you resulting in lack of visibility, or worse, potentially causing an accident.
